Important Information for Using E-Learning Courses Provided by the U. S. Department of Education Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative

Before completing eLearning modules or other U. S. Department of Education Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative activities, an Alabama teacher should contact the local school system professional development coordinator to obtain verification that the proposed activity meets criteria and needs of the teacher's individual Professional Development Plan (PDP), his/her school's professional development plan, and the local school system's professional development plan. To receive credit for demonstrating 'highly qualified teacher' status or for re-certification, an eLearning module or other Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative activity must be appropriate to the subject(s) and grade level(s) for which the teacher is currently certified and for which the teacher is seeking 'highly qualified' status. If the proposed activity is verified as acceptable by the local professional development coordinator, the Alabama teacher may then submit the eLearning Certificate of Completion form and the Course Overview page (from the Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative web site) for each session he/she completes as documentation for the HOUSSE application or re-certification.
