Where and when may individuals take the basic skills assessments required in the Alabama Prospective Teacher Testing Program?


The basic skills assessments (i.e., Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Writing assessments from the ACT WorkKeys System) required in the Alabama Prospective Teacher Testing Program are administered on certain test dates and at certain test centers. Individuals who wish to take the assessments must preregister with ACT for the desired test date before the registration deadline.

The test administrations for the APTTP basic skills assessments are:

  • May 15, 2010
     registration deadline: April 23, 2010
     score receipt date: June 26, 2010


  • July 31, 2010
     registration deadline: July 2, 2010
     score receipt date: September 11, 2010


  • October 9, 2010
     registration deadline: September 17, 2010
     score receipt date: November 13, 2010


  • December 18, 2010
     registration deadline: November 19, 2010
     score receipt date: January 29, 2011


  • March 5, 2011
     registration deadline: February 4, 2011
     score receipt date: April 9, 2011


  • May 14, 2011
     registration deadline: April 15, 2011
     score receipt date: June 18, 2011


  • July 30, 2011
     registration deadline: June 24, 2011
     score receipt date: September 3, 2011


  • Absolutely no registration requests will be accepted after the registration deadline. Registration requests must be accompanied by the fee payment.

    The APTTP basic skills assessments are administered at the following test centers:
    • Alabama A & M University, Huntsville, Alabama
    • Alabama State University, Montgomery, Alabama
    • Athens State University, Athens, Alabama
    • Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama
    • Faulkner University, Montgomery, Alabama
    • Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama
    • Oakwood College, Huntsville, Alabama (Friday test administrations only for examinees whose religious convictions prohibit testing on Saturday)
    • Troy University, Troy, Alabama
    • The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama
    • The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, Alabama
    • University of South Alabama, Mobile, Alabama

    Every effort will be made to assign examinees to the desired test center but test center choices cannot be guaranteed. If the desired test center is closed or filled, the examinee will be assigned to the nearest open center. Assignment will be made with an attempt to minimize inconvenience to the examinee. Registrants are advised to submit materials early.

    Individuals may register online at www.act.org/alabamapttp. Individuals who are unable to register online may telephone ACT at (800) 294-2105 or (319) 341-2500. Printed registration bulletins are also available at colleges and universities in the schools of education and also in the testing offices of the designated test centers.
