RESOLUTION HONORING JUDY JESTER FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO PUBLIC EDUCATION
WHEREAS, in each community, public schools are shaped by educators’ commitment to providing an appropriate and adequate education for schoolchildren; and
WHEREAS, Judy Jester served dutifully and effectively as the after-school program administrator for the Lawrence County School System; and
WHEREAS, Judy Jester served a pivotal role in education as a first-grade teacher at Hatton Elementary School in the Lawrence County School System for 18 years; and
WHEREAS, this dedicated and loving teacher taught more than 400 students during her 18 years of service at Hatton Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, Judy Jester died October 30, 2005, from head injuries sustained in a brutal attack at the system’s after-school program’s facility; and
WHEREAS, the community and the state mourn the untimely death of such a valuable, respected educator and mentor; and
WHEREAS, the Alabama State Board of Education expresses its condolences to the family, friends, students, and peers of Judy Jester:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby honor Judy Jester in memoriam for her commitment and distinguished service to Alabama’s K-12 public school students.
