RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF LOXLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
BALDWIN COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM
2005-2006 PRESIDENT’S CHALLENGE STATE CHAMPION SCHOOL
WHEREAS, Loxley Elementary School in the Baldwin County School System has been selected as a 2005-2006 President’s Challenge State Champion School by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports; and
WHEREAS, starting with the Presidential Physical Fitness Award in 1966, the President’s Challenge has rewarded and motivated millions of youth, and through the Presidential Champions program has challenged students and adults to raise their activity and fitness to a whole new level; and
WHEREAS, Loxley Elementary School competed in Category 2 for schools with between 201 and 500 students, and 31.18 percent of Loxley Elementary School students scored at or above the 85th percentile; and
WHEREAS, Loxley Elementary School is a repeat State Champion Winner from 2004-2005; and
WHEREAS, the Alabama State Board of Education believes in the importance of promoting health and fitness in our state’s K-12 public schools and is dedicated to instilling in students healthy lifestyle habits at an early age:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby commend Physical Education Teacher Yvette Ann Sturm, Principal Dr. Connie Jo Williams, and the students and parents of Loxley Elementary School on earning the distinction of 2005-2006 President’s Challenge State Champion School.
