RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF CRESTLINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MOUNTAIN BROOK CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM 2005-2006 PRESIDENT’S CHALLENGE STATE CHAMPION SCHOOL
WHEREAS, Crestline Elementary School in the Mountain Brook City School System has been selected as a 2005-2006 President’s Challenge State Champion School by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports; and
WHEREAS, starting with the Presidential Physical Fitness Award in 1966, the President’s Challenge has rewarded and motivated millions of youth, and through the Presidential Champions program has challenged students and adults to raise their activity and fitness to a whole new level; and
WHEREAS, Crestline Elementary School competed in Category 3 for schools with more than 500 students, and 24.5 percent of Crestline Elementary School students scored at or above the 85th percentile; and
WHEREAS, Crestline Elementary School has been a State Champion Winner every year since 1998-1999; and
WHEREAS, the Alabama State Board of Education believes in the importance of promoting health and fitness in our state’s K-12 public schools and is dedicated to instilling in students healthy lifestyle habits at an early age:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby commend Physical Education Teacher Kelby O’Neill, Principal Mike Melvin, and the students and parents of Crestline Elementary School on earning the distinction of 2005-2006 President’s Challenge State Champion.
