WHEREAS, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) sponsors a national program to honor outstanding middle and high school principals from across the United States and more than 45 countries; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Debra Beebe, a Principal at J. F. Drake Middle School in the Auburn City School System, was selected as Alabama’s 2007 Middle School Principal of the Year; and
WHEREAS, through the state selection committee, Ms. Beebe was selected based upon her exemplary leadership style of including a team of teachers, administrative staff, and stakeholders of the school in her decision-making process; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Beebe and her leadership team developed a program to assist those students who seemed to be “falling between the cracks” that resulted in 28 out of 30 seventh graders improving their grades by as much as two letter grades; and
WHEREAS, in October of 2007, Ms. Beebe was honored along with principals from across the nation at the NASSP Principal of the Year Banquet in Washington, D.C.:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Debra Beebe upon the honor of being selected as Alabama’s 2007 Middle School Principal of the Year.
