IN HONOR OF CRESTLINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL,
MOUNTAIN BROOK CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM,
2008-2009 PRESIDENT'S CHALLENGE STATE CHAMPION SCHOOL
PRESIDENT'S COUNCIL ON PHYSICAL FITNESS AND SPORTS
WHEREAS, Crestline Elementary School in the Mountain Brook City School System has been selected as a 2008-2009 President's Challenge State Champion School by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports; and
WHEREAS, the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports advises the President through the Secretary of Health and Human Services about physical activity, fitness and sports in America; and
WHEREAS, beginning with the Presidential Physical Fitness Award in 1966, the President’s Challenge has rewarded and motivated millions of youth, and through the Presidential Champions program has challenged students and adults to increase their activity and fitness to a new level; and
WHEREAS, Crestline Elementary School competed in Category III and 22.09 percent of Crestline Elementary School students scored at or above the 85th percentile on the President's Challenge Physical Fitness Test; and
WHEREAS, the President's Challenge Physical Fitness Test measures five components of physical fitness: heart and lung endurance, abdominal strength and endurance, muscular flexibility, upper body strength and endurance, and agility; and
WHEREAS, Crestline Elementary School has been a State Champion School for ten consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, the Alabama State Board of Education believes in the importance of promoting health and fitness in our state's K-12 public schools and is dedicated to instilling in students lifelong healthy habits at an early age:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby commend Crestline Elementary School on earning the distinction of 2008-2009 President's Challenge State Champion School by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
