Resolution Commending
Faucett-Vestavia Elementary School
WHEREAS, the use of alcohol and other drugs in Alabama tears apart families, friends, and sometimes even cost people their lives; and,
WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of schools, civic groups, and everyone in the community to help each other say “no” to drugs; and,
WHEREAS, the National Federation of Parents for Drug-Free Youth, and the National Red Ribbon Campaign sponsor a week each year to help us remember how important it is to fight drug abuse; and,
WHEREAS, the National Red Ribbon Campaign will be celebrated all over America during "Red Ribbon Week", October 23-27, 2000; and,
WHEREAS, the students, faculty, staff, and parents of Faucett-Vestavia Elementary School will take this time to show how everyone should be drug-free and healthy by wearing and displaying red ribbons this week; and,
WHEREAS, the Alabama State Board of Education wants everyone to be a part of the Red Ribbon Campaign:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby support October 23-27, 2000, as Red Ribbon Week, and encourages schools and the citizens of our state to help each other understand that drugs hurt people;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education congratulates the students, faculty, and staff of Faucett-Vestavia Elementary School for their commitment to a “Drug-Free Land” and their efforts to help students lead a healthy and prosperous life.
