COMMENDING MEGHAN EVERETTE GEORGE HALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MOBILE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM 2012-2013 ELEMENTARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR AND ALTERNATE ALABAMA TEACHER OF THE YEAR

WHEREAS, Meghan Everette, a teacher for six years, teaches at George Hall Elementary School in the Mobile County School System; and

WHEREAS, she is described as a very creative teacher who provides multiple opportunities for her students to use their own creativity in their learning and enhances student learning by extending required objectives beyond mundane paper and pencil activities; and

WHEREAS, she teaches her fourth-grade students how to use the Internet to research various topics and to create projects and is successful monitoring students’ progress and providing effective intervention to help her students succeed; and

WHEREAS, her class certified as a Model and Master Class in Math Facts in a Flash on the same day and also certified as a Model Class in Accelerated Reader; and

WHEREAS, she was selected by a national organization to represent George Hall Elementary School in Washington, D.C., for two years and attended training on financial literacy for students and brought ideas back to the school; and

WHEREAS, she is the recipient of numerous awards and several grants, and is a member of the National Education Association, Alabama Education Association, and Mobile Area Education Foundation:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby commend Meghan Everette for her dedication to children and youth, her commitment to excellence, her achievement in the field of education, and the recognition she has brought to the teaching profession for the benefit of students throughout Alabama.
