RESOLUTION COMMENDING CAROLYN ECKL ECK, 1999-2000 SECONDARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR AND ALTERNATE ALABAMA STATE TEACHER OF THE YEAR

WHEREAS, Carolyn Eckl Eck, a teacher for 33 years, teaches Grades 9-12 at Bradshaw High School in the Florence City school system; and
 
WHEREAS, she is a member of the Alabama Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Council of Presidential Awardees in Mathematics, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and has conducted numerous education-related workshops in Alabama and other Southeastern states; and
 
WHEREAS, she has received numerous awards and grants, including Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, Presidential Scholar’s Distinguished Teacher, Tandy Technology Scholar, National Instructor for “Teachers Teaching with Technology Program,” Governor’s Industry Internship Award, and Hewlett Packard Donor Program; and
 
WHEREAS, she has been described as an “innovative teacher” who challenges her students to not only accomplish goals but exceed them by providing a learning environment where students are able to undertake seemingly impossible tasks and conquer them; and
 
WHEREAS, she is always willing and eager to help her students by providing daily out-of-class time for tutoring, and demonstrates her interest in individual students by making telephone contact with parents and having private conferences with students; and
 
WHEREAS, she has been named Secondary Teacher of the Year for her school, school system and the State Board of Education District VII, and has been selected Secondary Teacher of the Year and alternate State Teacher of the Year for 1999-2000.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby recognize and commend Carolyn Eckl Eck for her dedication to children and youth, her commitment to excellence, her achievements in the field of education, and the recognition she has brought to the teaching profession for the benefit of students and teachers throughout Alabama.
