WHEREAS, Dr. Ghary M. Akers, an Instructional Assistance Specialist in the State Department of Education’s Instructional Assistance Section, was selected as Employee of the Quarter for October - December 1996 by the department’s Employee Recognition Board; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Akers is well-known for his generosity, warmth and professionalism; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Akers assumes responsibilities outside his assigned duties to increase productivity in the department; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Akers places the department, his coworkers and his profession ahead of personal interests, always maintaining an exemplary attitude toward his profession, the department and his coworkers; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Akers has spent endless time and money helping physical educators in the state build playground equipment, and has successfully put together a physical education workshop in Columbiana every year; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Akers is very involved in the community, playing sports with several senior athletic groups and traveling to tournaments:
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby commend Dr. Akers for his selection as the State Department of Education’s Employee of the Quarter for October - December 1996, and expresses its appreciation for his exemplary service to the department, to this Board and, ultimately, to the students of Alabama’s public elementary and secondary schools.
