WHEREAS, the State Department of Education shall communicate the requirements of the Alabama Abstinence Law to all teachers of health education courses in Alabama public schools; and
 
WHEREAS, the State Department of Education shall communicate directly to all teachers of health education courses in Alabama public schools that the books and materials approved by the Alabama State Board of Education must be augmented with materials and teaching on the following two areas:
 
(1) Moral and ethical reasons to abstain from sex outside of marriage; and (2) The latest medical data and statistics indicating the reliability and unreliability of various means of contraception.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does support the teaching of health to students attending the public schools of Alabama and recognize the valuable contribution it can have on their lives.
