WHEREAS, the Alabama State Board of Education has met all requirements of the existing Compliance Agreement with the U. S. Department of Education with respect to the Reauthorization Act of the 1994 Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, especially as they relate to Student Assessment and Accountability; and
 
WHEREAS, the committee of teachers, principals, superintendents, school board members, and lay citizens has met since January 2003 to develop the Accountability System for Alabama, which was adopted by the State Board of Education on June 26, 2003; and
 
WHEREAS, the committee was reformatted into two subcommittees to complete reports on Rewards and Sanctions and Managing Data with both reports being shared with the Alabama State Board of Education in a work session on October 23, 2003:
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby approve both subcommittee reports and add them to the previously approved plan for Accountability for Alabama’s public schools.
