COMMENDING CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL,
PHENIX CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM,
U. S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE BEST PRACTICES AWARD
FOR INCREASING PARTICIPATION IN SCHOOL BREAKFAST
WHEREAS, Central High School, Phenix City School System, is one of two schools in Alabama to receive the U. S. Department of Agriculture Best Practices Award for "Increasing Participation in School Breakfast;" and
WHEREAS, the goal of "Increasing Participation in School Breakfast" at Central High School's award-winning program is to promote nutrition, health, and academic achievement; and
WHEREAS, this program involves students and staff in its implementation; and
WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Agriculture presented the Best Practices Award for "Increasing Participation in School Breakfast" to Central High School on October 8, 2009, at the State Child Nutrition Program Directors Fall Workshop in Pelham, Alabama:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby commend and congratulate Central High School Child Nutrition Manager, Ms. Linda Averett; Child Nutrition Staff; Child Nutrition Director (Dr. Brindlea Griffin); Principal (Ms. Jan Funderburk); and Superintendent (Dr. Larry DiChiara) for supporting the Child Nutrition Program in this outstanding accomplishment as recipient of the 2009 Best Practice Award in the National School Breakfast Category as established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, National School Breakfast and Food Distributions Programs, and for making the commitment to offer students healthy breakfast choices, which has earned Central High School in the Phenix City School System this prestigious regional recognition.
