IN HONOR OF DR. JAMIE BLAIR, SUPERINTENDENT
VESTAVIA HILLS CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM
ALABAMA’S 2011 SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, Dr. Jamie Blair has served the education community, administrators, teachers, students, and parents of the Vestavia Hills City School System as the superintendent of Education since 2000; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Jamie Blair has been named Alabama’s 2011 Superintendent of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Jamie Blair’s many honors include being named Alabama’s 2007 Superintendent of the Year District 5 Finalist and Superintendent of the Year in 2003 for the Central Region of the Alabama Community Education Association; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Jamie Blair will represent Alabama in the National Superintendent of the Year Program, sponsored by the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) and ARAMARK ServiceMaster Facility Services; and
WHEREAS, the National Superintendent of the Year winner will be announced during the AASA Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado, in mid-February; and
WHEREAS, nominations for the award were submitted from the regional districts of School Superintendents of Alabama (SSA) membership to a committee of educators and representatives in the state; and
WHEREAS, the SSA represents superintendents and school system leaders statewide:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby express its gratitude to Dr. Jamie Blair for his distinguished service as Superintendent of Education for the Vestavia Hills City School System and for his years of service to the state of Alabama and its children, and does hereby commend
Dr. Jamie Blair for his many accomplishments and his dedication to public education; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby extend its congratulations to Dr. Jamie Blair for being named Alabama’s 2011 Superintendent of the Year.
