WHEREAS, the Torchbearer Schools program recognizes high-performing, high-poverty public schools in Alabama; and WHEREAS, at least 80 percent of the student population receive free or reduced meals; and

WHEREAS, at least 80 percent of the student population score at Level 3 or Level 4 on the Alabama Reading and Mathematics Test (ARMT), and 65 percent of students score in Stanines 5-9 in Reading and Mathematics on the Stanford 10 standardized test; and

WHEREAS, Anna F. Booth Elementary School was identified as Meeting, Advancing, and Exceeding the Challenge as described by the Alabama State Department of Education Rewards Plan; and

WHEREAS, Anna F. Booth Elementary School’s staff and faculty hold high expectations for teaching and learning, which has resulted in students achieving at high levels; and

WHEREAS, Anna F. Booth Elementary School has worked diligently to provide a positive learning environment for all students and teachers; and

WHEREAS, Anna F. Booth Elementary School is committed to academic excellence and continuous improvement efforts benefiting all students; and

WHEREAS, Anna F. Booth Elementary School exhibits the exemplary qualities of a high-performing learning community dedicated to the success of every teacher and student; and

WHEREAS, Anna F. Booth Elementary School’s staff and faculty not only understand the science but also embrace the art of teaching:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education expresses its sincere appreciation for exemplary student achievement to the principal and staff at Anna F. Booth Elementary School and congratulates them for their prestigious honor as a Torchbearer School.
