ADOPTED RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MOUNTAIN BROOK CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM, WINNER OF THE 1998 ALABAMA QUALITY AWARD
WHEREAS, students in the Mountain Brook city school system consistently demonstrate a high level of academic achievement; and
WHEREAS, such achievement is a reflection of the skill, dedication, and professionalism of the teachers, administrators, and other staff members in the system's six schools; and
WHEREAS, the school system recently became the first school system in Alabama to win the Alabama Productivity Center's Alabama Quality Award, which honors organizations whose recent innovations increased their quality and productivity; and
WHEREAS, the improvement efforts were formal techniques or practices that can be shared with other school systems with the expectation that they will be replicated and will contribute to state and national productivity and quality improvement; and
WHEREAS, according to the award coordinator, the judges were overwhelmed with Mountain Brook's commitment to turning out competent graduates, a commitment that includes surveying graduates at a later time to determine how well they were prepared for college and work:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education hereby congratulates and commends the Mountain Brook Board of Education; Superintendent Dr. Charles G. Mason; Personnel Director Dr. Tim Norris, who spearheaded the application for the award; and the principals, faculty, and staff members of Mountain Brook's schools for earning this prestigious award, and for a commitment to excellence that is worthy of emulation by other school systems.
