WHEREAS, Benji Tidwell attended the National Leadership Conference and Skills USA Championships sponsored by the National VICA Association on June 23-27, 1997, in Kansas City, Missouri; and
 
WHEREAS, Benji was one of eight students participating in the competition for Occupational Safety; and
 
WHEREAS, Benji placed first in the nation in this competition in which he had to prepare a scrapbook documenting his chapter’s activities in the promotion of good health and safety habits in the classroom, laboratory, and on the job, and defend it to a panel of national judges; and
 
WHEREAS, Benji was supported by Dr. Judy Landis, his advisor at Etowah County AVC; and
 
WHEREAS, the State Superintendent of Education recommends approval:
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education does hereby commend Benji Tidwell for the honors he has brought to his school, community, and state.
