WHEREAS, the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation sponsored the Recycling Awards Program to recognize outstanding environmental programs; and
 
WHEREAS, ten Alabama school programs were chosen; and
 
WHEREAS, Peter F. Alba Elementary School involves its 550 students in recycling aluminum cans, newspapers, white paper, cardboard and used clothing; and
 
WHEREAS, teachers emphasize conservation and waste management through activities such as the Wizard of Waste, Keep America Beautiful’s Waste in Place, Project Wild and Project Learning Tree:
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education does hereby commend the Mobile County Board of Education; Paul Joseph Sousa, Superintendent; and Barbara Doherty, Principal, for their support and assistance to Peter F. Alba Elementary School in achieving this honor.
