WHEREAS, the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation sponsored the Recycling Awards Program to recognize outstanding environmental programs; and
 
WHEREAS, ten Alabama school programs were chosen; and
 
WHEREAS, Hoover City Schools has maintained an ongoing recycling program since 1990 involving its 8,340 students and 1,190 staff; and
 
WHEREAS, the cornerstone of the recycling program in Hoover is the recycling curriculum, stressing a life long commitment to recycling as the chief goal:
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education does hereby commend the Hoover City Board of Education; Dr. Jack Farr, Superintendent; and Gary McBay, Director of Support Services, for their support and assistance.
