RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF ASHRIT R. KAMIREDDI, 2004 ADVANCED PLACEMENT STATE SCHOLAR
WHEREAS, the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while still in high school, which, with successful performance on the end-of-course AP Exams, potentially qualifies them to receive college and/or advanced placement at colleges and universities worldwide; and
WHEREAS, the College Board annually grants the academic distinction of AP State Scholar to the top male AP student and to the top female AP student in each state and the District of Columbia for grades of three or higher on the greatest number of AP Exams and the highest average grade on all AP Exams taken; and
WHEREAS, in 2004 more than one million high school students in 15,000 secondary schools took more than 1.8 million AP Exams:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby commend Ashrit R. Kamireddi, a graduate of Virgil I. Grissom High School, for earning the distinction of AP State Scholar and for being one of only three Alabama high school students to receive this honor in 2004 in recognition of exemplary college-level achievement on Advanced Placement Program Examinations.
