Resolution:
 
WHEREAS, Laurie Poole, an art teacher at Selma City Schools’ School of Discovery, was the recipient of the State Farm Good Neighbor Award for the month of January 1997; and
 
WHEREAS, Laurie Poole was the first teacher in Alabama to be so honored by the State Farm Insurance Companies; and
 
WHEREAS, Laurie Poole won this honor because of her innovation, involvement, dedication and leadership in the field of education; and
 
WHEREAS, in Laurie Poole’s name, the School of Discovery’s Visual Arts Department received $5,000 from State Farm Insurance Companies, and a commemorative plaque was presented to her:
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby express its congratulations to Laurie Poole for being Alabama’s first teacher so honored
