Board of Education Resolutions

Resolution:
 
WHEREAS, the State Board of Education firmly supports the arts as part of a strong public school curriculum; and
 
WHEREAS, the Alabama Alliance for Arts Education has completed its task of evaluating the Alabama Arts Pilot Program; and
 
WHEREAS, on-site visits, interviews, and various assessments have been used to determine the effectiveness of the Alabama Arts Pilot Program for each of the six schools selected to participate in the program—Albert Turner Elementary School, Marion, Alabama; Central Elementary School, Mosses, Alabama; Graham Elementary School, Talladega, Alabama; John Essex High School, Demopolis, Alabama; Southside High School, Selma, Alabama; and Sylvania High School, Sylvania, Alabama.
 
WHEREAS, The Alabama Alliance for Arts Education has compiled its findings and presents its results in a report entitled Evaluation Report on Alabama Arts Pilot Program to the State Board of Education:
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education does hereby receive the Evaluation Report on Alabama Arts Pilot Program, endorses the recommendations, and will hereby continue the Alabama Arts Pilot Programs while working collaboratively with members of the 2002-2003 Arts Education Planning Committee to improve arts education for Alabama’s public school students.
