In 2003, Former Crenshaw County Public School Superintendent, Warren Craig Pouncey joined the department as Director of Financial Services. He was appointed as the Assistant State Superintendent for Administrative and Financial Services in 2005 and was recently designated as Deputy State Superintendent. His current duties include all financial matters related to the Alabama State Department of Education and the state and federal funds that flow through all local school systems. Other divisions under his responsibility include Pupil Transportation, Child Nutrition Programs, School Facilities, Technology Initiatives, Compliance Assistance Program, LEA Financial Accountability, SDE Accounting, SDE Purchasing, and Legislative Activity. Dr. Pouncey was awarded his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Samford University at commencement ceremonies for the Orlean Ballard Beeson School of Education and Professional Studies on May 15, 2010. Dr. Pouncey completed his doctorate study that included a major focus on legislative perceptions related to school funding issues in Alabama. |
