ADOPTED RESOLUTION COMMENDING ROBIN A. LITAKER, 1996-97 ALABAMA STATE TEACHER OF THE YEAR AND ELEMENTARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, Robin A. Litaker, a physical education teacher at Trace Crossings School in the Hoover City school system, has been an innovator in her field, developing a multi-station physical education program designed to assist development and mastery of fundamental motor skills in young children, and devising nontraditional, noncompetitive methods for promoting these skills and fitness, such as forming juggling and jump rope teams that are popular with the students; and
 
WHEREAS, Trace Crossings has been designated a State Demonstration Center for Physical Education by the State Department of Education based on the principles of Ms. Litaker’s program, and she has been asked to present portions of her programs at local, state, regional and national workshops; and
 
WHEREAS, she is active in a number of professional organizations and has earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues and administrators, and the love and devotion of her students; and
 
WHEREAS, she represents excellence in the teaching profession and thus was nominated and selected Elementary Teacher of the Year for her school, her school system and State Board of Education District 4; and
 
WHEREAS, she was selected from all of the district teachers of the year as the 1996-97 Alabama State Teacher of the Year and Elementary Teacher of the Year:
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby recognize and commend Robin A. Litaker for her love for children and youth, her commitment to excellence, her achievements in the field of education, and the recognition that she has brought to the teaching profession for the benefit of students and teachers throughout Alabama.
